Geraint Griffiths M.ASvP Dip SpV Dip ScV MSc MCOptom

Managing Director

Becoming a qualified Optometrist in 1980, Geraint has worked in optics ever since. He took over this practice from Mark Davis in April 2007 to develop his interest in Sport and Schoolvision and relate this to everyday practice. The practice was re-named Optical3 when Geraint took over – He says "It's a fulfilment of a dream to be working with such a great team. To serve the people of Anstey and the surrounding areas is a constant joy".

Geraint has spent many years looking into the cause of dyslexia (being dyslexic himself), particularly with children, and has found that the same problems that cause poor eye coordination also affect sporting performance. He has improved the lives and achievements of many children and sportspeople over the years.

He is the founder and chair of the associations of Sportvision and Schoolvision practitioners.

Geraint's hobbies are theatre (having performed in many productions over the years) and in his slightly younger days, high jump (he held the Welsh High Jump Championship for 3 years) and the British masters record for 11 years.

Isabelle Durand MScOptom - Locum Optometrist

Isabelle graduated from Cardiff university in 1992 and has worked in a variety of practices in Leicestershire since then. After taking a break from optometry to raise her child, she returned to work part time as a locum. Optical3 were very pleased when she joined the team in 2020.

Debbie also works for Warwick University as a Simulated Patient (role-playing) for medical students. Her background has been in both secretarial work and the travel industry, having worked for Thomsons for 10 years. Her hobbies include music (where she performs regularly as a duo with her husband), theatre & walking her 3 dogs.

Linda Morris BSc (Hons) Optom - Business Support Officer

Linda became a full member of the Optical3 team in 2018 to help Debbie Morse with administration and the introduction of our new accounting system. She previously joined our sister company, SVUK, in 2013 after working as an optometrist in independent multiple practice for 13 years.

Linda has been creating our academic library of research, case histories and professional development videos in the members area of the SVUK website. She has become a great asset to the Association of Sport and Schoolvision Practitioners and an important link to the day-to-day clinical work of Optical3. She has multiple roles for SVUK as: editor, moderator for the diploma exams, liaising with members, and supporting with SVUK administration.

Debbie (Sandy) Ward - Senior Receptionist

Debbie, who we all know as Sandy, joined us in December 2015 as a Receptionist.  This was a huge career change for Sandy having never worked in an office/admin type setting before.  Having risen to the challenge and more, Sandy was promoted to Senior Receptionist.  She also has a keen interest in the visual arts and with her natural flair, she is very involved in frame buying, along with designing our beautiful shop window displays.  Sandy has 3 grown 'children' and lives locally.  In her spare time, she is either making wax melts or exploring the UK with her husband in their motorhome.
